AND to have on your radar for 2021…

mid-FEBRUARY 2021

Art & Travel will be adding a new destination for 2021: Morocco! This country has long been an escape and inspiration for artists and designers, offering breathtaking landscape and captivating Moorish culture as a muse. We will explore this exotic country with eyes on the old and new, going at the time of the Marrakesh art fair “1-54”, and spending time with international artists and specialists who have made the city their home. We will begin in Casablanca, to visit special collections, the Hassan II Mosque, the Villa des Arts de Casablanca, the Old Medina, and Abderrahman Slaoui Founadation Museum with its extraordinary decorative arts collection, and more. From there we will escape to the countryside to the town of Taroudant to see ancient roots of Morocco and witness how tradition has held strong even in contemporary world. There are breathtaking gardens to visit, and many special international private collections in this hidden gem of Morocco. We will visit the home and studio of Chilean artist Claudio Bravo, and have some relaxed time for enjoying activities in our divine Riad before heading to the cultural hub of Morocco: Marrakesh. With the exciting atmosphere of the contemporary art fair, we will have the opportunity to visit many places not normally available to see, such as artist studios, private collections, and secret gardens. We will visit the famous Souk and Koutubia, the museum and home of Yves Saint Laurent, the Jardin Marjorelle, Le Jardin Secret, the Museum of African Contemporary Art Al Maaden (MACAAL), and the famed Bahia Palace. We will spend time in the Palmeraie district, and have a luxurious dinner under the stars with friends of Art & Travel, and visit artist sites around Marrakech such as the Barjeel Art Foundation of Farid Belkahia (who has a retrospective opening at the Pompidou next year). There will be some particularly unique and surprising art sites in this visit is well – so ‘Yallah’ – ‘Let’s Go!’
