4-13 SEPTEMBER 2020
On the occasion of the 34th Bienal de São Paulo, as well as art fair 'ArtRio' - Art & Travel will be hosting a trip to Brazil this Fall! Guided by renowned curator and author Marc Pottier, we will experience the best of the contemporary Brazilian art scene - visiting with artists, curators, collectors, designers, and influencers from all over Brazil and South America. We will enjoy previews at the Bienal de São Paulo, the second-oldest Biennale in the world, held in the Brazilian modernist pavilion designed by Oscar Neimeyer and Hélio Uchôa. This year’s Bienal is curated by Italian Jacopo Crivelli Visconti, and will involve cultural institutions from around the country. We will also have a chance to visit a new art complex outside of São Paulo, Fábrica de Arte Marcos Amaro. This outdoor and indoor destination displays the foundation’s 1500+ works, including art by Tunga, Edith Derdyk, Di Cavalcanti, Jose Rezende, Sergio Romagnolo, Tatiana Blass, Nuno Ramos and more. Next, we will make the pilgrimage to INHOTIM, the extraordinary sculpture park built by Bernardo Paz, featuring one of the most impressive and expansive collections of contemporary art in Latin America! We will explore it on foot and in golf carts, viewing this lush natural preserve full of exotic and rare species, which provide a magical setting for the impressive art collection – including works by Olafur Eliasson, Doug Aitken, Vik Muniz, Anish Kapoor, and Adriana Varejão. There are over 20 pavilions and several galleries, and more under construction. We will then fly to Rio de Janiero to experience the ArtRio fair, featuring up-and-coming artists from Brazil and around the world. This trip will be full of exceptional art, exquisite fine dining and spectacular collections and venues. We will be greeted by art-world specialists and fine collectors and will enjoy exclusive VIP tours throughout the fairs and art destinations. A very exciting time to visit Brazil and experience its international fair and burgeoning art scene! This trip will be lead by author and curator Marc Pottier, as well as Laura Worth of Art & Travel.
